“The best thing about a picture is that its never changes, even when the people in it do” -Andy Warhol

Born and raised in Western, Massachusetts. With over 6 years of professional photography experience, I fell in love photographing weddings and it’s definitely my favorite event to shoot. Capturing the perfect wedding day for me means that the couple can go back to an album and feel like you are walking through each step of your most meaningful day at any point in your life.

As the “Farm Photographer” at the stunning Valley View Farm in Haydenville, MA, I’m heavily drawn to shoot weddings there but love having the opportunity to shoot all over the Valley, New England, and beyond! I’ve spent the last 15+ years as a licensed social worker, primarily working in community mental health, as a child protection social worker, and more recently I was a program director for a mentoring program that involves young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. As of January 2023 I retired from Social Work and I’m now fully devoted to expanding and perfecting my photography skills. I unconsciously utilize my professional social worker skills while I’m building relationships with my couples and shooting their special day.  Knowing how to keep people calm and relaxed is a handy tool, especially on your wedding day!!  I’ve definitely practiced some deep breathing techniques with a few grooms to avoid some panic attacks before a first look.

When I’m not shooting at the farm I’m usually spending time outdoors with my husband, camping in Provincetown, maintaining my flower garden as best I can, and loving our three fur babies; Frank, Mylo, and Charlie.  I have several tattoos, with more to come. The pandemic exposed me to a new hobby, drone flying!  A few couples have trusted me to take her out during a wedding, let’s talk more about other add-on options during our “Check-in session”.  The purpose of the Check-in session is a time for me to get to know the couple and for the couple to feel me out as their potential photographer, a decision that should be made with care!!  If we click, I’m sure we will, a date and time will be scheduled to review the contract.  Although we will be connecting throughout, a final planning meeting is held a few weeks before the big day to review the timeline, family and wedding party portraits, and all the other details that are going to make your day memorable.  Check out my personal Instagram page to see where my travels and adventures have taken me @ Jrivkin82

I love couples who are also up for an adventure!  Let’s go hiking through the woods, climb a local mountain top, or plan to shoot during a summer rain storm ending with a jump in the lake with all your clothes on!  Let’s have some fun!!
